CMA CGM and Maersk to launch a joint service between North Asia and Black Sea

CMA CGM is pleased to announce the launching, effective May 20th, 2009, of a new joint service linking North Asia and Black Sea.

The NEW BOSPHORUS EXPRESS will be operated in partnership with Maersk Line, with 10 containerships of 6 500 TEUS, of which 5 CMA CGM vessels.

Rotation will be as follows:

Dalian, Tianjin, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Taipei, Chiwan, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Kelang, Aqaba, Port Said, Damietta, Istanbul Evyap, Istanbul Ambarli, Constanza, Illichivsk, Odessa, Damietta, Port Said, Port Kelang, Tanjung Pelepas, Dalian.

CMA CGM announces rate restoration on Asia Europe trades


In a continued effort to provide its customers with the same reliable and efficient services they are accustomed to, the CMA CGM Group has decided to restore freight rates in the Asia-Europe trade to a more sustainable level.

New rate increases will apply to all cargo and commodities moving westbound from Asia to Europe, effective July 1, 2009.

The increase quantum will be as follows

+ USD 300 per teu

Additionally, CMA CGM will start again at the same date to invoice separately the BAF (Bunker Adjustment Factor) from the freight rate. CMA CGM has been constantly monitoring bunker prices and has published BAF level on its website

On the 1st of July 2009 the applicable BAF on the Asia > Europe trade will be increased from USD 281 per teu to USD 333 per teu reflecting the evolution of oil on the international market.

Finally, the Group may also decide to implement a PSS (Peak Season Surcharge), to be applied on the same trade as from 1st of August 2009
from: CMA-CGM.

DHL enhances direct LCL services


DHL will launch direct LCL services connecting Tokyo and Yokohama to Chicago in the US, offering weekly guaranteed services that reduce transit times by at least three days compared to current services.

DHL's LCL service also offers complete end-to-end supply chain management, which includes pick-up at origin, consolidation and deconsolidation, delivery at destination, customs clearance and DHL Track & Trace.

The new services join DHL Global Forwarding's portfolio of direct LCL services in Japan, which include direct LCL services to more than ten cities, including Antwerp (Belgium), Barcelona (Spain), Shanghai (China) and Hong Kong. Direct services are also available in Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka.

Our international client requires an experienced professional for their well established and diverse Maritime Services business in Egypt.​ This role has enormous possibilities for developing the business and taking advantage of the many growth areas that exist.​

Candidates must have experience in Ship Agency, Liner Representation, Maritime Logistics and Marine Services and be able to demonstrate strong leadership abilities backed by solid commercial experience in the maritime sector.​

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the entire operation across Egypt with full control and responsibility for the office network and quality of service delivery.​
  • Develop and implement strategies and plans to drive the business forward and take advantage of wide ranging opportunities.​
  • Lead business development activities and actively engage with key clients & vendors across all Divisions of the company.​

  • Strong communication & relationship skills with clients and employees across diverse cultures; should have excellent negotiating and influencing abilities.​

  • Good client network and industry contacts in relevant sectors.​
  • Excellent communication skills in English, ability to formulate and deliver presentations effectively.​

Evergreen and China Shipping co-operate on Asia – Europe & America trades


Evergreen Line and China Shipping Container Lines have agreed to co-operative agreement on their Asia-Europe, Asia-Mexico-US East Coast and Asia-US West Coast services, effective this month.

The joint services are

  • From June 17th, eight 8,000 TEU vessels will be deployed on the China North Europe service (CEM for Evergreen; AEX1 for CSCL), calling at Qingdao > Shanghai > Ningbo > Felixstowe > Hamburg > Rotterdam > Zeebrugge > Hong Kong > Qingdao.
  • From June 15th, eight 4,000 TEU vessels will be deployed on the Asia Mexico US East Coast service (AUE2 for Evergreen; AAE1 for CSCL), calling at Shanghai > Hong Kong > Yantian > Lazaro Cardenas > New York > Norfolk > Savannah > Miami > Lazaro Cardenas > Shanghai.

The two lines will share slots on the Asia-US Pacific South West Coast route:

  • From June 16th, five 8,000 TEU vessels will be deployed on the Hong Kong, Taiwan-US West Coast service (HTW for Evergreen; AAS for CSCL), calling at Kaohsiung > Xiamen > Hong Kong > Yantian > Los Angeles > Oakland > Kaohsiung.
  • From June 16th, five 8,000 TEU vessels will be deployed on the North/Central China to US West Coast service (CPS for Evergreen; AAC for CSCL), calling at Qingdao > Lian Yun Gang > Shanghai > Ningbo > Pusan > Los Angeles > Oakland > Qingdao.

Vietnam’s first deep-water port debuts

Ho Chi Minh City: Vietnam today inaugurated the country’s first deep-water port for container ships, SP-PSA Port. The port, located in the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, is a project between Saigon Port and PSA Singapore, and is being built in two stages for eventual capacity of 2.2m teu.

The first stage, costing $240m has equipped the port with a 1.1m teu capacity from two container wharfs able to receive 80,000 ton ships.

Yesterday the port received the 3,821teu APL Alexandrite (the largest container ship to ever arrive in Vietnam) a day ahead of the inauguration. The vessel is scheduled to operate on the first direct service between Vietnam and the US, launching next week. [29/05/09]

خط ملاحى جديد من جنوب شرقى الصين الى البحر المتوسط

شيامن 24 يونيو / أبحرت سفينة " تشونغهاى نابولى " محملة بالبضائع فى الساعة 19 من يوم السبت الماضى من مرفأ هايتيان فى ميناء شيامن لمقاطعة فوجيان ( جنوب شرقى الصين ) متوجهة الى منطقة البحر الابيض المتوسط, ايذانا بافتتاح خط ملاحى مباشر آخر بين ميناء شيامن والبحر المتوسط. علم ان الخطوط الملاحية المؤدية من الصين الى اوربا والبحر المتوسط تزداد مكانتها فى قطاع النقل البحرى الصينى, لان صادرات الصين الى أوربا ومنطقة البحر المتوسط شهدت زيادة حثيثة فى خلال السنوات الاخيرة.

ومن اجل تقصير مدة نقل البضائع من شيامن الى منطقة البحر المتوسط, أضافت شركة تشونغهاى المحدودة لنقل الحاويات 9 سفن حاويات سرعتها 21 عقدة لتسييرها على خط ملاحى مباشر يؤدى من شيامن الى الموانىء الواقعة بشرق وشمال البحر المتوسط, وذلك على أساس سفن الحاويات التى تسير عبر ميناء شيامن على خط " الشرق الاقصى ـ أوربا " الملاحى.

المعروف ان الرحلة على الخط الملاحى المباشر من شيامن الى اوربا والبحر المتوسط تستغرق حوالى 17 يوما.

Hamburg Süd announces new and improved services


Hamburg Süd improves its UCLA service, and establishes a new Intra-Caribbean service.

Hamburg Süd and Aliança have announced the following service improvements in the trade between South America East Coast - Caribbean, Central America and US-Gulf (UCLA) service.

The current two-loop set up with twelve 1,700 TEU to 2,500 TEU vessels will be upgraded to a new main string with modern tonnage and full port coverage, effective June 7th.

Seven 3,800 TEU ships will call at the following ports: Veracruz > Altamira > Houston > Cartagena > Suape > Santos > Rio Grande > Navegantes > Paranaguá > Santos > Rio de Janeiro > Salvador > Puerto Cabello > Cartagena > Veracruz.

To complement this main service and to offer transhipment possibilities for other Hamburg Süd services, a new dedicated Intra-Caribbean (Aztec) service will be introduced on July 7th.

Three 1,700 TEU vessels will call at the following ports on a weekly frequency: Altamira > Veracruz > Havana > Manzanillo (PA) > Cartagena > Puerto Cabello > La Guaira > Altamira.
