CMA CGM announces rate restoration on Asia Europe trades


In a continued effort to provide its customers with the same reliable and efficient services they are accustomed to, the CMA CGM Group has decided to restore freight rates in the Asia-Europe trade to a more sustainable level.

New rate increases will apply to all cargo and commodities moving westbound from Asia to Europe, effective July 1, 2009.

The increase quantum will be as follows

+ USD 300 per teu

Additionally, CMA CGM will start again at the same date to invoice separately the BAF (Bunker Adjustment Factor) from the freight rate. CMA CGM has been constantly monitoring bunker prices and has published BAF level on its website

On the 1st of July 2009 the applicable BAF on the Asia > Europe trade will be increased from USD 281 per teu to USD 333 per teu reflecting the evolution of oil on the international market.

Finally, the Group may also decide to implement a PSS (Peak Season Surcharge), to be applied on the same trade as from 1st of August 2009
from: CMA-CGM.
